In Person: Fundamentals of Nonprofit Board Governance

Workshop

  • July 13, 2022
  • 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Board members will participate in board meetings and other engagements with more confidence and more knowledge about your role after attending this workshop (formerly Board Boot Camp). You will learn typical board responsibilities and explore the nuances of board authority and relationships. Participants take home Propel’s Nonprofit Board Governance workbook, which includes the Fiduciary Duties of Directors of Charitable Organizations. While this training is open to all, it is designed for those new to serving on a board or those who are contemplating joining a board.

This training will be held in person. Masks and proof of vaccination are required to participate. If you are unable to mask or be vaccinated, we encourage you to look into our virtual offerings of this training. You can read more about our COVID protocols here.

If there is a need, based on CDC community levels, to transition a training from in-person to virtual, Propel will make that determination as early as possible, but in the case of a rapidly changing environment, could be made as late as 24 hours before the training.

Elizabeth Appel

I come to Propel Nonprofits with 10 years of training, technical assistance, and program development experience in service-learning, curriculum development, youth leadership, and asset-based community development. I believe in the power of a well-framed question, that all participants have something to learn and something to offer at every training, and that (almost) any problem can be solved with flip charts and sticky notes. I have a B.A. in political science and economics from Luther College. In my free time, you’ll find me listening to podcasts about politics and reality television, refining my recipe for the perfect roast chicken, and drinking the best cup of coffee I can find (often all at the same time).
