Federal Government Shutdown: how we can help
The team at Propel Nonprofits is prepared to offer nonprofits support in the event of a federal government shut down.
On September 30, 2025, the National Council of Nonprofits (NCN) issued a press release warning of the ways a Government Shutdown Threatens Nonprofits’ Ability to Serve Communities. Diane Yentel, president and CEO of the National Council of Nonprofits, emphasized the serious consequences of a shutdown in the following statement:
“Government shutdowns disrupt the vital work of nonprofits in local communities, preventing them from delivering the critical services on which the American people rely. Nonprofits are already facing enormous financial and political challenges, as the Administration has sought to freeze federal funding, terminate contracts, and otherwise withhold grant funds. A shutdown further undermines their ability to serve, and the longer it lasts, the more severe the harm to people and communities. Congress and the White House must act quickly to reopen the government and allow nonprofits to continue their vital work.”
Earlier this month, NCN provided the sector with a checklist for nonprofits to consult in the event of a government shutdown:
