Fundamentals of Nonprofit Finance

This training is designed to make you more comfortable with nonprofit finance. We’ll walk through nonprofit financial reports including the income statement (statement of activities) and balance sheet (statement of financial position). You will gain an understanding of nonprofit finance terminology, financial statements, and staff and board roles and responsibilities. This workshop is right for you if you are new to the nonprofit sector, nonprofit finance, or your position as staff or board member.

Sarah has a long history of working with nonprofits in Minnesota. For the past 20 years she has served in various roles including executive director, program director, treasurer, and board member. She is passionate about advancing nonprofits’ mission-centered work, and helping nonprofit leaders understand and manage their finances.

Paul is a capacity builder who works with people and organizations to improve and confront systems. He has experience in redesigning and developing employment programs, supporting inclusive hiring and recruiting opportunities, and serving on the boards of two nonprofits. He has a bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies and Critical Theory, and a master’s degree in Nonprofit Management.
